About this book On the 6th of August 2012, after travelling for more than 350,000,000 miles, the rover Curiosity landed on the red planet (Mars) which no human has ever visited. Join the journey and find out what, how and why Curiosity has been sent there. How did she get her name? What tools does she use to carry out her tasks? And ultimately what have her been doing there? Markus Motum brings Curiosity's story to life in vivid color: the deep blues of space set off the warm, rusted hues of Mars's dusty red surface, marking this lovable rover and her mission as something special -- truly a world apart.
Reviews from Around the World
"What a fantastic book! The graphics are stunning and the story is written in a straightforward way that does not condescend to the reader. I hope that this author creates more books like this to inform and inspire young scientists and engineers.." - L.Wilde, Amazon
"This is a gorgeous picture book full of interesting information. The story personifies Curiosity, the Mars Rover, and tells the story from her point of view. It tells about the reasons scientists are interested in space exploration and the challenges in sending people to Mars. It tells about the design and building of Curiosity, about Curiosity’s travel to and landing on Mars, and about what she does there. The art is beautiful, the writing is clear, and the content is interesting and informative. The target age for this is probably elementary students (my 7 and 8 year old kids loved it) but the content is worthy of older students as well ( my 12 year old also enjoyed it and it fit well with his school work on rocket science). Great job, Markus Motum! It is a treasure to find a picture book that is not only beautifully presented, but also worth reading." - Incredimom, Amazon
